The simple yet impactful stage show consists of two masked, cloaked figures with a glowing line of light across where the eyes would be. That and, naturally, Daft Punk and that band's anonymous yet unmistakable stage personae. Vangelis, Giorgio Moroder, John Carpenter and Jean Michel Jarre provided a bit of musical inspiration behind Magic Sword's sound. The group wrote songs that wouldn't be out of place in films like Buckaroo Banzai, Blade Runner, Wavelength, Time Bandits and The Keep. The stars aligned and I met Shay Plummer and the rest of Magic Sword, and it felt right. It was the one constant in my life - '80s epic soundtrack music. Day seven it dawned on me that this is what I wanted to do. I didn't do it to go get clarity on my music I did it because a buddy of mine had had such great results with it. “It was ten days, and you meditate eight to ten hours a day.
The group originated when The Keeper became a little lost as a musician - and perhaps in life in general - and sought an unorthodox method of regaining focus. “I went to Vipassana, a meditation retreat,” reveals The Keeper. The latter “weaves the web of the universe,” according to a bandmember known as The Keeper.
This mysterious trio hails from Boise and two of the musicians perform incognito while a third member handles the projections in a way that is far from obvious. “I try to set up in a way that you can't see it, because I feel like it ruins the magic when you see hot dogs being made,” says that member, who's known as The Weaver.
However, when their life has permanently ended their soul becomes the possession of the raven queen for all eternity.Perhaps the most unusual act of this past weekend's Underground Music Showcase was Magic Sword. From whence they may be resurrected without the need for costly material components. Once attuned to the blade if it's wielder dies, their body and soul are absorbed into the blade, which is virtually indestructible. The Vessel a blade shaped from soul stone that forms a dark covenant with its wielder. This ability is otherwise identical to the diviner wizards portent ability. Until your next long rest you may substitute the result of the d20 rolled at the end of your long rest for one of your other roles. Roll 1 d20 after every long rest and record the result. Many believe it was sent through time from a different era as once attuned to it it's user gains limited clairvoyance. Tengouku: a holy blade infused with divine energy. As long as the blade is slick with blood its magical bonus increases to +3, and for every ten points of damage it's wielder inflicts on a turn they get a +1 bonus to attacks saves and skill checks for their entire next round. Hate: a +2 unholy longsword with a thirst for carnage.
#MAGIC SWORD BAND WITHOUT MASKS PLUS#
Here's some that aren't just an adjective plus blade or sword. The players eventually empowered Honor’s Call, which made it a legendary weapon and caused a little flashback scene where they saw the weapon’s creation. The prophecy was ambiguous - it talked about a “shifting blade” for example - Duskherald’s metal has a pattern that shifts constantly while looking at it, Honor’s Call can change into different weapons.Īnyway, the moment the players realized the big bad might be wrong or that the ritual that was going to empower Duskherald could instead empower Honor’s Call was one of my best moments ever as a DM. It took a coupe of sessions but one of my players realized the prophecy might refer to Honor’s Call instead. My players found a prophecy that the Big Bad was using as a blueprint that in the surface obviously referred to Duskherald. Both are sentient but one has a single soul (a paladin who sacrificed herself to empower the blade the other has many souls that have been put into the blade against their will). The two favorites I’ve come up with for my current campaign:
